What we believe
Our Beliefs
Jesus is at the centre.
Everything we believe begins and ends with Jesus.
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Saviour of the world and the only way to the Father. Through His death and resurrection, we can be forgiven, made new and brought into a real relationship with God.
Our beliefs are grounded in Scripture. The Bible shapes what we teach, how we live and how we understand who God is.
We believe the Holy Spirit is active today. He leads us, transforms us, empowers us and helps us live boldly for Jesus.
Faith is meant to shape every part of our lives. It affects how we pray, love people, make decisions, use our gifts and respond to the world around us.
God Culture exists to help people know Jesus personally, understand His Word and live fully for His glory.
Built on the Word
Our foundation
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the foundation of our faith. It reveals who God is, shows us the truth about Jesus and teaches us how to live.
Our response
We want to be people who hear God’s Word and put it into practice. We follow Jesus, depend on the Holy Spirit and live with faith, prayer, obedience and love.
“Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life”
The foundations of our faith
These beliefs shape the life, teaching and ministry of God Culture. We want everything we build to remain centred on Jesus, grounded in Scripture and led by the Holy Spirit.
-
We believe in one true and eternal God, the Creator of all things.
He exists as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He is holy, loving, faithful and completely good. He desires for people to know Him personally and live in relationship with Him.
-
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God.
It is true, trustworthy and our authority for faith and life. Scripture reveals the character of God, the story of salvation and how we are called to live as followers of Jesus.
We want to teach the Bible clearly, faithfully and in a way that people can understand and apply to their lives.
-
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully human.
He lived without sin, died on the cross for us and rose bodily from the grave. Through His sacrifice, the power of sin and death was defeated.
Jesus is alive, He is Lord and He is the only way to the Father.
-
We believe every person needs the grace and forgiveness of God.
Salvation is a gift received through faith in Jesus Christ. We are saved by His grace, forgiven of our sin and made new through the power of God.
When we turn to Jesus, we begin a new life with Him. Our past no longer defines us, and we are welcomed into the family of God.
-
We believe the Holy Spirit is present and active today.
He lives within believers, reveals truth, develops the character of Jesus in us and gives us power to live for God.
We believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit and want people to learn how to recognise His leading, pray in the Spirit and use their gifts to serve God and others.
-
We believe prayer is central to the life of every believer and the Church.
Through prayer, we speak with God, listen to Him, stand in faith and pray for His will to be done. We believe in praying for one another, our city and the move of God we believe is coming.
Prayer prepares the way for what God wants to do, and we want to become a church that truly knows how to seek Him.
-
We believe worship belongs to God alone.
Worship is more than music. It is a life surrendered to God and lived for His glory. When we gather, we worship sincerely and make room for people to focus on Jesus and experience His presence.
Our desire is always to honour God rather than create a performance.
-
We believe the Church is the body of Christ and that every believer has a place within it.
The Church is called to worship God, teach His Word, pray, make disciples, care for people and share the Gospel.
We believe God is building His Church in Cape Town. We want to be ready for what He is doing here and faithful with every person He brings.
-
We believe water baptism is an important step of obedience for every person who has chosen to follow Jesus.
Baptism is a public declaration of faith and a picture of leaving the old life behind and being raised into new life with Christ.
We also share communion in remembrance of Jesus, giving thanks for His body and blood and what He accomplished for us on the cross.
-
We believe following Jesus is a lifelong journey of discipleship.
God calls us to grow in His Word, develop a life of prayer, love people, walk in holiness and become more like Christ.
We believe Jesus will return, that His Kingdom has no end and that our lives should be lived with faith, purpose and an eternal perspective.
